Netflix’s Scooby-Doo! Live-Action to Explore Teen Origins, Filming Pushed to 2026

Date:

Netflix’s live-action Scooby-Doo! series is getting closer to production, offering a fresh take on the classic characters. This new show, a collaborative effort from Warner Bros. Television, Berlanti Productions, and Midnight Radio, will feature Fred, Daphne, Shaggy, and Velma as young teens during their final summer at camp. Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg have been named as the showrunners.
The central storyline is a departure from the typical “monster-of-the-week” format. A lonely Great Dane puppy becomes the sole witness to a supernatural murder, pulling the young group into a complex and dangerous investigation. The show’s official logline hints at a plot that will test their friendship and force them to confront a terrifying nightmare.
The series is planned for eight hour-long episodes. Currently, the project is known as Scooby-Doo! The Live-Action Series, but a final title may be different. Filming, which was initially rumored to start in the fall of 2025, has been delayed to early 2026. This shift in schedule allows for a more meticulous pre-production phase.
This modern re-imagining aims to capture the essence of the original cartoon while exploring new narrative avenues. By focusing on the characters’ teenage years and a more serious mystery, the show promises to be an engaging blend of nostalgia and contemporary storytelling. Fans are eager to see who will be cast in the iconic roles and, of course, the young Great Dane that will play Scooby.
