China Urges Stronger Pharmaceutical Research and Innovation for Public Health

Chinese Vice-Premier Liu Guozhong has emphasized the importance of strengthening basic research and technological innovation in the pharmaceutical sector to improve public health.
During a visit to a leading pharmaceutical sciences institution, Liu reviewed ongoing medical research, laboratory operations, and development strategies. He highlighted the need for collaborative efforts among enterprises, universities, research institutions, and medical organizations to create innovative drugs and medical technologies.
Liu encouraged the use of advanced tools such as artificial intelligence and big data to accelerate the creation of life and health databases. He also called for expanding international cooperation in pharmaceutical technology, aiming to enhance the country’s capacity to safeguard people’s health and well-being.
