Oscars 2026: “One Battle After Another” and “Sinners” Secure Strong Academy Support

The 98th Academy Awards nominations were announced this evening by Lewis Pullman and Danielle Brooks, revealing strong support for two films. Paul Thomas Anderson’s “One Battle After Another” and Ryan Coogler’s “Sinners” secured the strongest Academy backing.
The strong support for both films manifested through nominations across multiple categories. “One Battle After Another” secured recognition in directing, adapted screenplay, and acting categories, while technical achievements also earned acknowledgment. The comprehensive support reflects the film’s excellence.
“Sinners” secured equally strong backing from Academy voters. Coogler’s direction earned recognition alongside the film’s visual achievements in cinematography and production design. Strong ensemble performances secured multiple acting nominations, demonstrating the cast’s collective excellence.
Other films securing Academy support include “Marty Supreme,” which earned nominations for directing, acting, and technical categories. “Hamnet,” “Sentimental Value,” and “Frankenstein” also found success among voters. However, Neeraj Ghaywan’s “Homebound” failed to secure any support.
Oscar night arrives on March 15 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, where cinema’s elite will gather. The ceremony will air at 7 p.m. ET on ABC, broadcasting the celebration worldwide.
