China Rebukes US Over ‘Undetermined Status’ Claim on Taiwan

Date:

China’s Foreign Ministry strongly criticized the US for promoting what it called the “fallacy” that Taiwan’s status remains undetermined, urging Washington to stop manipulating the issue for political purposes.
Spokesperson Lin Jian stated that post–World War II documents — including the Cairo Declaration, the Potsdam Proclamation, and Japan’s Instrument of Surrender — legally confirm China’s sovereignty over Taiwan. He emphasized that as a signatory to these agreements, the US is fully aware of the historical and legal facts but continues to distort them to mislead global opinion and embolden “Taiwan independence” forces.
Lin stressed that Taiwan is an inseparable part of China, and the one-China principle is the universal consensus of the international community. He warned that no individual or external force can obstruct China’s reunification, describing it as an “overriding historical trend.”
