Xi Says China’s High-Quality Development to Create New Opportunities With Brazil

Chinese President Xi Jinping said China’s pursuit of high-quality development through expanded opening-up will create more opportunities for cooperation with Brazil, during a phone call with Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
Xi noted that China and Brazil elevated their relationship in 2024 to a community with a shared future, aimed at promoting a more just world and a more sustainable planet. He said cooperation between the two countries has gained momentum, with closer alignment of development strategies and growing collaboration among Global South nations.
As China begins its 15th Five-Year Plan period, Xi expressed readiness to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation with Brazil across multiple sectors and further strengthen bilateral ties. He emphasized that China and Brazil play an important role in safeguarding global peace, stability and improved global governance amid international uncertainty.
Xi also called on both countries to defend shared interests, uphold international fairness and justice, and support the central role of the United Nations. He reaffirmed China’s commitment to strengthening partnerships with Latin America and the Caribbean and advancing broader South-South cooperation.
