China and Türkiye Bolster Alliance, Celebrating 55 Years of Diplomacy

Date:

Türkiye and China are enhancing their diplomatic relationship as they commemorate 55 years of official ties. This partnership has grown significantly, particularly in trade, technology, energy, and regional cooperation. Türkiye’s Ambassador to China, Selçuk Ünal, highlighted that the foundation of this relationship dates back to the historic Silk Road era, which facilitated trade, cultural exchanges, and diplomatic interactions between the two civilizations.

The formal establishment of diplomatic relations in 1971 marked the beginning of a substantial expansion over the decades. Currently, China stands as Türkiye’s largest trading partner, with annual bilateral trade exceeding $50 billion. The connectivity between these two nations has also improved, with an increase in passenger and cargo flights connecting major cities, enhancing both diplomatic and economic engagements. Türkiye has broadened its diplomatic footprint across China with multiple consulates to support this growing relationship.

Both countries are committed to advancing cooperation in vital sectors such as artificial intelligence, green energy, infrastructure, and commerce. Ambassador Ünal noted that Ankara and Beijing share common perspectives on numerous international and regional issues, prioritizing peace, stability, development, and conflict prevention. The alignment of these views strengthens their collaboration in addressing global challenges.

Looking ahead, Türkiye and China aim to further solidify their partnership under the strategic vision of their respective leaders. This vision emphasizes long-term economic growth and regional cooperation, aiming to benefit both nations and contribute to broader regional stability. As they build on their historical ties, Türkiye and China are poised to continue their trajectory of mutual growth and collaboration.
