China Calls on India to Uphold Border Agreements Amid New Tensions

Date:

China has called on India to adhere to bilateral agreements concerning their shared border, emphasizing the importance of maintaining peace and stability amid recent reports of renewed tensions between the two nations. According to Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun, Beijing has consistently followed the existing agreements with India, highlighting that China’s routine patrols and border management activities are aimed at upholding its territorial sovereignty and ensuring stability in the disputed areas.

The call for adherence to border agreements comes after reports of another standoff along the China-India border. An Indian Foreign Ministry spokesperson attributed such incidents to deviations by Chinese troops from established patrolling patterns. Despite these tensions, Guo stressed that both countries continue to communicate through diplomatic and military channels to address border-related issues.

Guo urged India to collaborate with China in implementing the understandings reached by both sides, taking practical measures to prevent further tensions. Maintaining peace and tranquility along the border remains a critical challenge for both countries as they strive to manage territorial disputes through dialogue and established communication mechanisms.
