Earthquake Measuring 5.0 Hits Northwest China’s Qinghai Province

A 5.0-magnitude earthquake shook Xinghai County in Qinghai Province, located in northwest China, on Tuesday afternoon. The tremor was recorded at 4:04 p.m. according to Beijing time. The China Earthquake Networks Center reported the seismic activity, pinpointing the epicenter at a latitude of 35.31° north and a longitude of 99.56° east.

The earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers beneath the earth’s surface. Despite the significant magnitude, there were no immediate reports of casualties or damage in the region. Local authorities are on alert and are continuing to closely monitor the situation for any developments.

Xinghai County, situated in a seismically active area, has experienced similar events in the past, though this recent quake has not, so far, resulted in any major disruptions. The community remains vigilant as officials assess potential impacts and ensure public safety measures are in place.
