Xi Supports Two-State Solution in Meeting with Jordan’s King Abdullah II

During discussions in Beijing with Jordan’s King Abdullah II, Chinese President Xi Jinping reiterated China’s commitment to a two-state solution for resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. He highlighted the importance of restarting peace negotiations and called for the prompt establishment of an independent Palestinian state. President Xi underscored the necessity of a comprehensive ceasefire, emphasizing the protection of civilians and the continuation of humanitarian aid, while advocating for a political resolution grounded in international law.

President Xi also stressed the principle of Palestinian self-governance, particularly in relation to the administration of the West Bank and the rebuilding efforts in Gaza. These remarks underline China’s stance on maintaining the sovereignty and governance rights of Palestinians within their territories.

In addition to discussing the Israeli-Palestinian issue, President Xi and King Abdullah II explored ways to enhance the strategic partnership between China and Jordan. The two leaders agreed on the need to bolster cooperation across various sectors, including trade, infrastructure, transportation, digital technology, artificial intelligence, and green energy. Their discussions culminated in the signing of several cooperation agreements, marking a step forward in strengthening bilateral ties.
