China’s top diplomat Wang Yi has called on Japan to address what Beijing perceives as inappropriate remarks and actions by Japanese leaders concerning Taiwan. During a meeting in Beijing with Takeshi Iwaya, president of the Japan Association for the Promotion of International Trade, Wang emphasized the need for Japan to adopt an objective and rational stance toward China.
Wang stressed the importance of maintaining the political foundation of China-Japan relations and urged Japan to properly handle historical issues. He highlighted the significance of respecting the lessons of history and encouraged Japan to commit to peaceful development to avoid further straining bilateral ties.
Takeshi Iwaya acknowledged the concerns over the current state of relations between Japan and China. He expressed that his organization remains committed to promoting dialogue and supporting stable bilateral relations.
