China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Southern Theater Command has reported the expulsion of a Philippine C-208 aircraft from the airspace over Huangyan Dao, a territory claimed by China in the South China Sea. The PLA stated that the aircraft entered the area without approval, prompting a response involving both naval and air forces to monitor the situation closely.
According to the PLA, warnings were issued to the Philippine aircraft before it was instructed to vacate the area. China considers the presence of the aircraft as a violation of its sovereignty, raising concerns about potential maritime or aerial incidents that could arise from such actions.
The PLA has cautioned the Philippines against engaging in what it describes as provocative actions in the region. The Chinese military emphasized its readiness to protect its territorial claims and security interests, maintaining heightened alertness in response to any perceived threats.
Huangyan Dao, also known as Scarborough Shoal, is a disputed territory in the South China Sea, with multiple countries asserting claims over the area. The incident underscores ongoing tensions in the region, where territorial disputes have been a longstanding source of conflict.
