Loong Air, a Chinese airline, has inaugurated its first cross-strait flight service, establishing a new direct route between Chengdu Tianfu International Airport and Taichung International Airport. This new service, which commences operations twice weekly, is scheduled for Tuesdays and Saturdays, aiming to enhance travel connectivity between southwestern China and central Taiwan.
The introduction of this Chengdu route signifies a significant expansion for Taichung International Airport, which now boasts 31 operational or announced routes. This includes 20 regular services and 11 charter routes, highlighting Taichung’s growing importance as a transportation hub. The new route to Chengdu complements existing cross-strait destinations served by Taichung Airport, which include Nanjing and Qingdao.
With this strategic move, Loong Air is poised to strengthen ties and travel convenience between the two regions. The Chengdu-Taichung route is expected to cater to both business and leisure travelers, offering a direct link that facilitates smoother transit and cultural exchange.
