China Initiates Science Month to Enhance Public Understanding

Date:

China is set to kick off its National Science Popularization Month, an initiative aimed at enhancing public understanding of scientific progress and boosting science literacy across the nation. Running for a full month, the program is themed “Science Transforms Lives, Innovation Secures the Future” and includes a diverse array of exhibitions, lectures, science tours, and public engagement activities.

In Beijing, more than 100 exhibitions and events are scheduled at major venues, while over 150 activities will be organized nationwide by various national scientific societies. The initiative’s goal is to make basic research and the latest scientific advancements more accessible and understandable to the general public.

Participants will have the unique opportunity to visit laboratories and research facilities, providing a firsthand look at cutting-edge scientific progress. This engagement is designed to demystify science and encourage broader public interest and understanding.

A significant highlight of the month is the 2026 World Conference on Science Literacy, which will convene in mid-September in Beijing. The conference will gather representatives from multiple countries to discuss topics related to science literacy and foster international cooperation in the field.
