Chinese President Xi Jinping has emphasized the need for stronger ecological conservation and sustainable green development during a recent inspection visit to Ulanqab in Inner Mongolia. His visit highlighted key areas such as wetland restoration, biodiversity protection, and the development of environmentally friendly computing infrastructure.
During his tour of the Huangqihai Lake nature reserve, Xi reviewed conservation efforts aimed at restoring the lake, which had been threatened by climate change and other pressures. These measures have successfully restored and expanded the lake’s water body over the years. Xi underscored the importance of implementing China’s wetland protection law, safeguarding biodiversity, and maintaining strict ecological protection boundaries. He emphasized prioritizing natural restoration in degraded wetlands, supported by scientific intervention when necessary.
Xi also visited the Chahar High-Tech Development Zone to assess the progress of China’s “East Data, West Computing” initiative. This initiative is designed to optimize the distribution of computing resources across the country. He called for the efficient operation of completed projects and the timely completion of ongoing developments. Xi urged authorities and industry stakeholders to promote efficient, environmentally friendly, and safe computing infrastructure, which would bolster China’s digital economy while supporting sustainable development.
In addition to his focus on ecological and technological advancements, Xi assessed local agricultural and livestock products, encouraging officials to strengthen the connection between production and markets to enhance the incomes of farmers and herders. This multi-faceted approach highlights Xi’s commitment to integrating environmental sustainability with economic growth and technological innovation.
