Chinese President Xi Jinping has urged the nation to maintain confidence and make steady progress towards what he described as the “great rejuvenation” of China. His comments came during a reception in Beijing commemorating the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.
Xi emphasized the importance of sustaining economic growth, advancing innovation-driven and high-quality development, and improving people’s livelihoods. These efforts are aimed at meeting the targets set for the year and ensuring a robust start to the upcoming 15th Five-Year Plan for 2026–2030.
Reaffirming China’s commitment to the “one country, two systems” policy, Xi called for greater integration of Hong Kong and Macao with China’s broader development objectives. In regard to Taiwan, he advocated for deeper cross-Strait exchanges and cooperation, opposing “Taiwan independence” and external interference, while promoting peaceful development of cross-Strait relations.
Moreover, Xi highlighted China’s dedication to its independent foreign policy of peace, with the goal of fostering a community with a shared future for humanity. This reflects China’s broader strategic ambitions on the international stage.
