China Boosts Foreign Trade by 17.6%, Reaching 34.78 Trillion Yuan

Date:

China’s foreign trade has shown robust growth in the initial eight months of the year, with the combined value of imports and exports reaching 34.78 trillion yuan, equivalent to $5.18 trillion. This marks a 17.6% increase compared to the same period last year. The impressive performance was driven by a surge in exports and imports, which rose by 14.6% and 22% respectively, amounting to 20.17 trillion yuan in exports and 14.61 trillion yuan in imports.

In August alone, the momentum of trade growth intensified, with the total value of goods imported and exported climbing 19.8% year-on-year to 4.65 trillion yuan. During this month, exports increased by 18.6%, while imports saw a 21.7% rise, continuing the trend of substantial trade expansion that has characterized China’s foreign trade activities this year.

The consistent pattern of double-digit growth in both imports and exports has been maintained for four consecutive months. Notably, import growth has outpaced that of exports for the past six months, highlighting a dynamic shift in China’s trade dynamics. This trend indicates a strong domestic demand and an evolving trade structure that could influence future economic strategies.

This sustained trade growth reflects China’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its position in the global market, despite various external challenges. The ability to maintain such significant growth rates underscores the resilience of China’s trade sector and its adaptability in navigating the complex terrain of international commerce.
