Dublin Airport Opens Direct Flight Route to Shanghai

On Monday, a new direct flight route between Dublin Airport and Shanghai was inaugurated, establishing Ireland’s first non-stop air connection to China’s largest city. Operated by China Eastern Airlines, this service will run three times weekly, utilizing Airbus A350-900 aircraft. This route is set to become the longest scheduled non-stop flight ever offered from Dublin Airport.

The airport’s operator, daa, noted that this new link enhances Ireland’s connectivity with one of the most crucial aviation markets globally. This development is anticipated to foster growth in travel, tourism, trade, and educational exchanges between Ireland and China. The introduction of this service is regarded as a significant addition to Dublin Airport’s long-haul network, offering new opportunities for passengers traveling between the two countries.

China Eastern Airlines, based in Shanghai and a member of the SkyTeam alliance, provides flights across various regions, including Europe, Asia, Oceania, North America, South America, and the Middle East. The airline’s chairman, Wang Zhiqing, highlighted that the new route creates a convenient and efficient air corridor between Ireland and China, thereby strengthening cooperation and enhancing people-to-people ties.

Dublin Airport officials have expressed enthusiasm over the launch, viewing it as a major boost to the airport’s international offerings. The new service is expected to not only benefit travelers but also stimulate economic and cultural exchanges between the two nations, reinforcing the strategic significance of this air link.
