During a recent visit to Kyrgyzstan, China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi reiterated the nation’s commitment to bolstering ties with Central Asian countries. The discussions primarily revolved around enhancing regional cooperation and multilateral coordination, particularly through platforms such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), the China–Central Asia mechanism, and the United Nations.
In talks with Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan, the Chinese delegation focused on various collaborative efforts. With Kyrgyzstan, China emphasized its support for the nation’s upcoming hosting of the SCO Bishkek Summit and reiterated its commitment to Kyrgyzstan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Both nations agreed to further align on issues of regional peace, security, and development.
China’s discussions with Uzbekistan highlighted the significance of advancing infrastructure projects like the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan Railway. Furthermore, both countries are looking to broaden their cooperation in emerging fields, including artificial intelligence, smart agriculture, and modern industrial development, signaling a shared interest in technological innovation.
Meanwhile, with Tajikistan, China reaffirmed its dedication to strengthening bilateral relations. The two nations aim to expand practical cooperation in sectors such as energy and regional connectivity. This follows the signing of a long-term friendship and cooperation treaty earlier this year, underscoring the deepening strategic partnership between the two countries.
