China Urges Enhanced India Partnership to Strengthen Growing Bilateral Ties

In a recent meeting with Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi emphasized the importance of strengthening ties between China and India. Wang highlighted the need for both nations to build on their current positive momentum by enhancing high-level exchanges and expanding cooperation in various fields such as trade, media, and cultural interactions. He also stressed the significance of managing sensitive issues through dialogue.

Wang further called for increased collaboration between the two countries on regional and international matters. He suggested that China and India should work together to support multipolarity and advocate for the interests of developing nations. Additionally, Wang reaffirmed China’s backing of India’s role in hosting this year’s BRICS summit and encouraged greater partnership within the expanded BRICS framework.

During the discussions, Jaishankar reiterated India’s commitment to fostering a positive and cooperative relationship with China. He also confirmed India’s longstanding positions on sensitive issues, including Taiwan and Xizang (Tibet), affirming India’s respect for China’s sovereignty in these matters.

The meeting between the two foreign ministers underscores the ongoing efforts by both countries to stabilize and strengthen their bilateral ties. This comes in the wake of recent improvements in their relations, signaling a mutual desire to deepen cooperation across multiple areas.
